Hi everyone! My name is Nicky and I am a full time elementary school teacher in New York City by day and figure skater by morning and evening. Gold Medal Tutor was born from these two loves: education and figure skating. I have a BA in Psychology and Education from Barnard College and an MA in Literacy Instruction from Bank Street College of Education. I am a New York State certified elementary school teacher and literacy specialist. I am also a United States Figure Skating Association triple gold medalist. I continue to combine my passions of education and figure skating every day!
My expertise is my passion for literacy. I combine my talent of teaching inside the classroom with my unique experience of teaching outside the classroom to create a fun and individualized literacy plan to allow all students to achieve their reading and writing goals.
The only way to grow and excel is at one's own pace. I have experience with students who need support and students who need enrichment in all literacy areas: reading, writing, English as a second language, and ELA. As your child's private tutor, I create an individualized plan to meet students' needs and adapt regularly based on ongoing assessment.
